Manchester United stars Paul Pogba and Alexis Sanchez at centre of major dressing room rift due to lucrative goal bonuses
Alexis Sanchez and Paul Pogba are reportedly at the centre of a dressing room fallout at Manchester United over their goal and assist bonuses.Sanchez, who has endured a disastrous spell at Old Trafford since his move from Arsenal last season, earns a reported 500,000-a-week on his current contract, with 75,000 given as a bonus for every goal scored and 25,000 for every assist provided.Sanchez and Pogba’s goal bonuses are reportedly causing major unrest in the Old Trafford dressing room1

And Pogba, who has been the subject of strong interest from Real Madrid in recent months, receives an extra 50,000 for every goal and 20,000 for every goal he creates. The pair’s United team-mates do not have the same agreements in their contracts, and, according to The Sun, this has led to major unrest behind the scenes at the club.Red Devils chief Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is facing a battle to keep his squad happy due to the alleged jealousy at the lucrative clauses in Sanchez and Pogba’s deals. The scheme was brought in to lower the wage bill around three years ago and while goal bonuses are apparent at most clubs, the plan devised by United chiefs has failed spectacularly. Pogba and Sanchez argued over taking a penalty against Leicester earlier this campaign and this could be due to the bonus system.United’s form picked up following the arrival of Solskjaer in December, but it has since plummeted again with just one win in their past five Premier League outings. And ahead of their final day showdown against Cardiff at Old Trafford, a source close to United’s hierarchy believes the bonus system has majorly contributed to their poor run of results. He told The Sun: The real problem is the incentive plan. It has caused a lot of animosity and is as responsible for the lack of the recent failure of team spirit as anything else.
