Awoniyi has been loaned to Royal Excel Mouscron twice, FSV Frankfurt, NEC and Gent in an attempt to play regular first-team football.He has scored seven goals in ten league games for Royal Excel Mouscron in the Belgian top-flight this season.Awoniyi told the BBC: It saddens my heart that it’s been difficult to get a work permit for the past four years.“At the end of the season we have to go back to Liverpool to discuss.

He said: “Nigeria is blessed with so many talented players and whoever finds himself playing for the country should count himself privileged.“If I get a chance I will be grateful for that but it is not something you have to force.You can only wait for your time and if it comes you have to make good use of it.”
