A statement from UEFA on Tuesday read: “UEFA has today announced that it has commissioned an ethics and disciplinary inspector to conduct an investigation in relation to the alleged racist incidents that occurred at last week’s UEFA Europa League group stage match between Vidi FC and Chelsea FC played on December 12 in Hungary.“Information in respect to the results of this investigation will be made available by the middle of January.”Travelling fans in Budapest were also shown on social media holding a Chelsea Headhunters flag featuring a Nazi symbol.The Blues face a partial stadium closure as a penalty if the supporters are found guilty, UEFA regulations state.The investigation takes place in regards to the chanting at the match against Vidi2

The incident against Vidi came three days after four Chelsea fans were suspended for allegedly racially abusing Raheem Sterling in the 2-0 win over Manchester City.Stamford Bridge officials are working with the Hungarian authorities in order to obtain CCTV footage in the hope of identifying those culprits responsible at the stadium in Budapest.It is the latest damming blow to the image of Chelsea, whohad three of their supporters spoken to by police following reports of more alleged anti-Semitic chanting on the train following their 2-1 win at Brighton, despite the pleas of chairman Bruce Buck, who met with fans before the game to demand they represent the club in the correct manner.
